Stephen John Hollingsworth Obituary
July 12, 1942 - November 15, 2016 Stephen John Hollingsworth died the evening of November 15, 2016 at his home in San Rafael, CA surrounded by his loving family. Steve was born July 12, 1942 in Indianapolis, IN to Marguerite Bernatz and Maurice C. Hollingsworth M.D. The family relocated to Los Angeles, where he attended high school and, upon graduation, joined the US Air Force. Stationed in Little Rock, AR, he met and married Linda Martin Fulbright, the mother of his three children. Steve returned to LA to attend the Art Center College of Design and graduated from Chouinard Art Institute in 1969. Steve's career as an art director took him to large ad agencies in Chicago and Phoenix, and back again to LA. He retired to northern California in 2000, where he fostered an interest in Tai Chi and returned to recreational college classes in drawing, painting and sculpture. He met Suzann Marlowe and they married in 2010, settling in San Rafael, where the sculptures dotting their property stand as a reminder of his original approach to life. Steve had a avid interest in hot rods, continually building project cars, leaving a 1956 Oldsmobile nearly finished. He is predeceased by his daughter Laura Anne, born in LA December 1, 1965 and died December 31, 2005, as well as his brother, Robert Michael, born September 6, 1950, died January 20, 2007. He is survived by his wife Suzann, and his children Elizabeth Noel Hollingsworth and Jeffrey Martin Hollingsworth, as well as his granddaughter, Zoe, of South Pasadena, and 3 nieces and 7 nephews. The eldest of six brothers - Thomas, James, William, Robert, and Michael - Steve bravely led his loved ones into the unknown, dying at home in peace, surrounded by his loving family. He is dearly missed. Memorial to be held this spring, contact [email protected]
