Stephen Woody Brown Obituary
August 3, 1939 - June 18, 2015 Dr. Stephen Woody Brown died on June 18, 2015 at his home in Huntington Beach, CA surrounded by his loving family: wife of almost 40 years (Lynn), son (David), and daughter (Kimberly Freilich). He is also survived by his two precious and adored granddaughters, Madeline Freilich (17) and Evelyn Brown (3). A life-long learner and teacher, Steve earned his B.A. in Psychology from Cal State LA in 1962 and a Ph.D. in Psychology from USC (chaired by J.P. Guilford) in 1966. In 1993 (just for fun) he earned a J.D. in Law, from La Salle University (cum laud). Dr. Brown is admired by his many students and coworkers at Alliant University (1996-2015), Pepperdine University (1981-1995), California School of Professional Psychology, Fresno (1976-1980), USC School of Medicine (1968-70; 1974-75; 1976-78), and as Chief Psychologist for Metropolitan State Hospital (1995-2005). Woody was a member of many academic organizations as well, but what he is best remembered for is his love for his family, his commitment to his students, and his dedication to being silly every chance he got. Fight on! A celebration and remembrance of his life will take place at Alliant University on April 16th from 1-3 pm.
