Takashi "Mits" Mitsutomi Obituary
December 20, 1923 - July 12, 2017 Takashi 'Mits' Mitsutomi of Anaheim died on July 12 at age 93 of Parkinson's. He was born and raised in Honolulu, HI, and served as First Lt. in the Army stationed in post-war Japan with the Reparations Branch. He graduated from MIT with an MS in Electrical Engineering. He worked at North American Rockwell for 18 years and retired as Director of Advanced Technology in 1971. He then co-founded Hycom, Inc., a research and development company, in partnership with Sharp Corp. and served as president until his retirement in 1988 when Hycom merged with Sharp. He was an avid lap swimmer and snorkeled in Hawaii and the Great Barrier Reef. His interests were woodworking, gardening, audio systems, golfing and traveling. Survivors include his wife, Hazel; stepchildren Tracy Mayo (Michael), James Toda (Michelle), and Victoria Toda (Mel); grandchildren Derek Mayo (Ryann), Brielle Wardell (Jason), Erin Mayo (Robert), and Kaitlyn and Andrew Toda; great-grandchildren Jacob and Katana Mayo. Private services will be held.
