Thomas Joseph O'Malia Obituary
February 5, 1944 - November 17, 2016 Thomas J. O'Malia, of Calabasas, California, beloved husband, father, and Pop-Pop, passed away at his home after a long illness. O'Malia served as a professor and Director of the Lloyd Greif Center for Entrepreneurial Studies at the USC Marshall School of Business and brought the program national acclaim. He received multiple Golden Apple teaching awards (an honor given by students to faculty) and was a true mentor to hundreds of students. Beyond the classroom, Tom led the successful start-up, growth and sale of business ventures, led turnarounds of troubled companies, and served on the board of publicly traded companies. O'Malia was born in Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania where he lived until 1976 when he moved to Southern California. He earned his Executive MBA at The Peter Drucker School of Management at Claremont Graduate School (1990), his MBA at the University of Scranton in Scranton, PA (1967) and his BS at King's College in Wilkes-Barre, PA (1965). He is survived by his wife, Carole, daughters Erin O'Malia Gehan, Molly O'Malia and Megan O'Malia, son in laws Robert Gehan and Michael Madigan, and grandchildren Bridget Gehan, Kieran Gehan, Brady Ward and Shannon O'Malia. Among his siblings, he is preceded in death by his brother Patrick and is survived by Edwin, Paul, Mary, Mark and Annie. A funeral is scheduled for December 1, 2016 at St Mel's Catholic Church in Woodland Hills at 2:00pm with a reception to follow.
