Thomas Lennan (Tom) Lincoln M.D. Obituary
January 4, 1929 - March 10, 2016 "Always be prepared for success" was Tom Lincoln's favorite motto. Born in Pittsburgh to John J. Lincoln and Jean Gregg Lincoln, Dr. Lincoln was educated at Saint-Paul School, Yale University, the Carl Jung Institute in Zurich, before graduating from Yale Medical School in 1960. He took advance training at Yale and John Hopkins in pathology, before joining the staff of the Institute for Applied Mathematics, University of Maryland and later the National Institute of General Sciences, NIH. He had been a senior scientist at Rand Corporation from 1967 to 2009, having retired in 1996 as Emeritus Professor of Research Pathology at Keck School of Medicine University of Southern California. His interests for more than 40 years were in various aspects of medical computing with emphasis on health care information systems. He had been member of the American College of Medical Informatics, American Medical Information Association, American Medical Association, IEEE, John Hopkins Medical Association, College of American Pathologists, His avocations were History, European politics, calendar algorithm, poetry, genealogy, Jungian psychology. He spoke four languages. He is survived by his wife of 43 years and their three children, one grand daughter, one sister and nephew and nieces. His ashes will be buried in France. Donations may be sent to the Parkinson Research Foundation, the MD Anderson Cancer Center in Houston.
