Obituary Condolences

March 6, 1925 - June 23, 2015 Born in Sego, Utah to immigrants from Japan, Toshiko Yoshihara grew up in the hardscrabble coal-mining town until the family moved to Price, Utah where her parents, Masaki and Kosuye Okura, owned and operated the Price Café. Toshiko arrived in Los Angeles in 1949 as the young bride of the late Akira Yoshihara and lived in the City of Angels until she retired to San Gabriel. An industrious, smart homemaker, she took the lead in raising their four children. Known as "Toshi" to her friends, "Toshi-chan" to family, she was a marvelous seamstress, accomplished knitter and avid gardener. Toshiko passed away on June 23 at the age of 90 following a brief illness. Predeceased by her husband of 59 years, she was the devoted and loving mother of Ann Michiko, Nancy Akemi, Gary Satoshi (Joy) and Kathryn Shinobu (Robert) Fujisaki as well as the very proud grandmother of Kyle and Scott. Her sister, Hiroko Taniguchi of Ogden, Utah, sister-in-law, Sachiko Yoshihara of La Mirada, Calif., and many nieces, nephews and other relatives also survive her. A memorial service will be held on Sunday, July 19, 4 p.m. at the Chapel of the Garden at Fukui Mortuary. 707 E. Temple St., Los Angeles, with Rimban William Briones from Hompa Hongwanji Buddhist Temple officiating. www.fukuimortuary.com 213-626-0441
