Kostelas, Toula A.

Born Toula Angelopoulos in Chicago, IL to Greek immigrants John and Harriet, Toula moved after marriage to Los Angeles where she worked at L.A. County Hospital as a Lab Technician. She raised three daughters, and later continued her education at Cal State Northridge, where she earned a B. A. in Art at age 50. With her vibrant personality, and colorful sense of humor, Toula was the life of every party. For over 40 years, she was part of a weekly poker group, and pursued her love of gambling in Las Vegas, Lake Tahoe, Monte Carlo and Puerto Rico. Toula leaves behind many loved ones including her daughters Maria Kostelas, Elaine Fischer, and Andrea Retamal, sons-in-law Mark Fischer and Sergio Retamal, and grandchildren Danielle, Cara and Sean, as well her sister Elaine Hesse, best friend MaryAnn Roumanis, nieces and nephews, cousins, friends, and caregivers.
Services are Sunday, January 6, beginning with a viewing at 10:30am at Conejo Mountain Funeral Home and Memorial Park, 2052 Howard Road in Camarillo. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the UCSD Moores Cancer Center Smoking Cessation Program. Make checks payable to UC San Diego Foundation, noting in memory of Toula Kostelas on the memo line. Send donations to: Emily W.
