Urfa C. Barnhill-Leedy-Curtright-Dennehy Obituary
April 4, 1919 - December 16, 2016 She had 35,686 days. Enough to live several lives: The Wild Girl running through her parents Lincoln Rock Apple Orchard -- The New Bride making her first home in an East Wenatchee Bungalow hidden behind the lilacs --The Divorced Mom braving cold weather with her friend Marie Prime in Coeur d'Alene Idaho -- The Love Struck Young Woman taking her second chance in sunny Los Angeles -- The Heart Broken Widow raising her son Jack in a motor court apartment complex with her extended "It Takes A Village" Turner family -- The "Third Time Is The Charm" Optimist forging a new family in the new city of Lakewood - - The Divorced Again Mom working to hold it all together for her children, Louis and Mary -- The Duty Served Empty Nester traveling the world with her sister Duane Neff -- The "I'm Not Gonna Let This Beat Me" Cancer Survivor signing up to babysit her third grandchild and welcome her first great-grandchild -- The Grey Old Lady riding her scooter to daily lunches with her best friend Norma at Wiengart's Burns Community Center. Urfa lived all of those days her way, with fierce independence and quiet dignity. At 95, asked what she wanted for her birthday, she quickly replied "more time" -- time that she got but unfortunately spent bed-bound and mostly sleeping. Hopefully, she was dreaming about all the good days that went before, her many adventures and impressive accomplishments during a life well-lived. At 97, Urfa out-lived her brothers, sister and friends plus her middle child Louis Dennehy (Marie) who passed away in 2009. She is survived by her eldest son Jack Leedy (Jean), only daughter Mary Dennehy Sears (Peter), her three grandchildren, David Leedy, Donna Leedy and Nicholas Dennehy, her three great-grandchildren Cynthia Leedy Tolentino (Gene), Darian Leedy and Regina Leedy and her great-great-granddaughter Madyson. Graveside services to be held at 10:00 a.m., Friday, January 6, 2017, at Inglewood Park Cemetery MPlot #486 where, after 63 years apart, Urfa will finally be laid to rest next to the "Love of Her Life" Bud Curtright Urfa spent her final years in her own home, just like she wanted. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Lakewood's Meals on Wheels, a program that helps extend the time that seniors can maintain their independence (www.Lakewoodcity.Org/MealsOnWheels) or you might just take a moment to show a little kindness to a senior citizen in your life and grant their holiday wish.
