Veronica Hand Dysart Obituary
September 7, 1915 - November 17, 2016 Veronica (Ronnie), 101, passed away peacefully on November 17 at Nazareth House in Culver City. She was born and raised in New York City and earned a bachelor's degree from Hunter College in 1936. After marrying Joseph Dysart in 1942, she lived in Brownsville, Texas and Miami, Florida before moving to Van Nuys in 1950. She was a devoted mother to three sons, grandmother of five, and great grandmother of four. An active volunteer, she devoted time in service to others in such diverse organizations as Catholic Charities, United Way, the Right to Life League of Southern California, the Ladies of Charity, Senior Citizens Housing, and the Archdiocesan Council of Catholic Women. Her honors include the Cardinal's Award, the Pro Ecclesia et Pontifice papal award, and United Way Gold Key. She set an example of the value of service to others. Her loving husband, Joseph, preceded her in death in December 1998. She is survived by her sons Christopher (Kelly Wolff) of Gig Harbor, Washington, Barry (Lynn) of Springfield, Virginia and Jeffrey (Cheryl Rock) of Del Mar, California. Visitation will be 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. on November 28 at Mission Hills Catholic Mortuary (11160 Stranwood Ave, Mission Hills). Funeral mass will be at Nazareth House (3333 Manning Ave, Culver City) at 10:30 a.m. on November 29. Memorial contributions may be made to Catholic Charities of Los Angeles (catholiccharitiesla.org).
