Virginia Aubert Winterhalter Obituary
February 19, 1934 - October 23, 2017 Virginia Aubert Winterhalter (Ginny) died peacefully in her sleep October 23, 2017. She was 83. She is survived by her loving family: husband, William; children; Michael (Jill), Elizabeth, and Stephen; grandchildren Charles, Christine, Henry and Kira. Their first child, Charlie, passed away in 1965. Since that time, she has been a supporter of Children's Hospital of Los Angeles. Virginia's parents were Lloyd and Dorothy Aubert of Beverly Hills. She attended Marymount Elementary School, Marlborough High School and Colorado College in Colorado Springs. She spent summers on Balboa Island in Newport Beach, CA where she enjoyed the ocean and sailing. Family history from those years was eventful and inspiring. At an early age, her character was shaped by World War II. One story Virginia would often recount was about the oil refinery her father's company operated near Santa Barbara. It was bombed by a Japanese submarine just after Pearl Harbor. A plaque on the grounds commemorates that historical event. Soon after college she married and raised 4 children in Pasadena CA. Honesty, loyalty, discipline, respect and good manners (Ha Ha!) were among the top qualities she instilled in them. Raising her children (all Chandler School students) was the most important thing to her, though she was also active in the Junior League of Pasadena. In 1972 the family moved to Dana Point where they enjoyed the beach life-style and new friends. She enjoyed tennis, long walks in the Dana Point Harbor and reading books at the beach. A private memorial was held October 31st at Pacific View Memorial Park. Donations may be made in honor of Virginia A. Winterhalter to: Children's Hospital Los Angeles c/o Robert Weiner / Foundation Department Children's Hospital Los Angeles, 4650 Sunset Blvd., MS #29 Los Angeles, CA 90027
