Vivian Muriel Paul Obituary
July 3, 1925 - June 23, 2017 Vivian Muriel Paul was born July 3, 1925 to New York State Senator A. Spencer and Sadie Simonson. Vivian passed away peacefully in Palm Desert, California, on June 23, 2017. She is survived by daughters, Leslie Vivian Paul and Melissa Beth Paul, son-in-law, Michael V Scully, son-in-law, Joel H. Menzin, and grandchildren, Benjamin Peter Scully, Nicholas William Scully, and Piper Isabelle Menzin. Vivian was an intellectual and academic wonder. She graduated from the University of Miami with a double major in English and History on August 29, 1944 and went on to attend USC Law School graduating June 12, 1948. Vivian was Editor in Chief of USC Law Review from 1946-1948. She was admitted to the California State Bar in 1949. Specializing in Family Law and Medical Malpractice Law in Beverly Hills, she was an inspiration to young female practitioners. Vivian was an avid swimmer and was in the pool every day of her adult life. She moved through the water with grace, drive and determination, just as she moved through her life. A force of nature, Vivian would fight with conviction for what she believed in. She loved her work and she loved to travel. Vivian and her husband, M.B. Paul, traveled the world with their daughters Leslie and Melissa. The family experienced different cultures and made lifelong memories. Vivian will be remembered as a loyal friend, a generous and loving mother and grandmother. She loved her grandchildren tremendously. "Nana" will be a missed presence in our lives going forward.
