Vivian Shirley Katzin Obituary
January 23, 1927 - November 3, 2017 Vivian Shirley Katzin passed away peacefully on November 3, 2017 at her home in Woodland Hills, California. She was predeceased by parents Meyer and Ida Koran, sister Marion Koran, brother Albert Koran, and husbands Daniel Bloom and Robert Katzin. Vivian is survived by daughters Roberta (Russell Wilson) Bronstein-Wilson, Geri (David) Small, stepdaughter Stacey Katzin, grandsons Daniel (Britney Scott) Bronstein, Matthew (Colleen Tucker) Bronstein, great-granddaughters Sarah and Ella Hagen and Fern Scott, and "Team Viv" caregivers Teri Lockett and Grace Arciniegas. Vivian was born at Kasper-Cohen Hospital in Los Angeles on January 23, 1927. A first-generation Southern Californian, she grew up in Boyle Heights where her family owned a corner grocery store. Vivian attended Sheridan Street Grammar School, Hollenbeck Junior High School, Roosevelt High School, and Los Angeles City College. Vivian's pre-school teaching career spanned over 40 years. During her reign at The Farm School, Boulevard Nursery School, and Temple Judea, her 3-year-olds learned the value of sharing and getting along with others, the beauty of music, and that it is "okay to get dirty" during playtime. The essence of Vivian's heart was strength of family. Services will be held in the chapel at Mount Sinai Hollywood Hills on Tuesday, November 7, 2017 at 11:30am. The family has asked that donations be made in Vivian's memory to: Temple Judea Preschool c/o Margie Ipp, Director 5429 Lindley Ave. Tarzana, CA 91356
