Walter John Walsh Obituary
July 4, 1923 - May 4, 2015 Born in New Jersey and raised in Staten Island, NY. He attended Stevens Institute of Technology where he was tapped by the Navy to join the V-12 program. Walt continued his education at Columbia University to receive a Masters in Mechanical Engineering while becoming an Officer in the Navy. Assigned to the USS Cowpens in 1944, he witnessed the signing of the surrender of Japan in Tokyo Bay. Post war, his career spanned 45 years at McDonnell-Douglas designing aircraft. An active member of Visitation Parish, Knights of Columbus, American Legion, VFW and Boy Scouts. He enjoyed his family, golfing, bowling, traveling and walking beaches. He was preceded in death by son Tom. Survived by his loving bride Betty of 62 yrs, children David (Karina), Julie (George), Nancy (Frank), Alice and 11 grandchildren. Walt was the stalwart of his family, workplace and any area in which he had influence. He was a loving, generous and considerate man of integrity. He will be missed greatly.
