September 10, 1949 - February 19, 2015 Wes Christensen, Artist Wes Christensen, who painted magical narrative scenarios, was born in Rockford, Illinois, but his family soon moved to La Mirada, California. In 1967 he attended the University of the Seven Seas, and continued his education at California State University at Long Beach where he received his B.A. degree in Comparative Literature, and continued with an M.A. degree in Fine Arts at California State University at San Francisco. He was also an instructor and graduate advisor at Laguna College of Art and Design. His numerous artworks, which relied upon figure painting, and representational art, illuminated manuscripts and the cinema, were exhibited nationwide in various solo and group exhibitions. He was represented early in his career by Space Gallery in West Los Angeles, and later at Koplin Del Rio in Culver City. Known for his devotion to art and literature and his support of other artists and his students, he became a popular figure in the Los Angeles art scene. He is survived by his husband and life partner of 45 years, Ken Camp, and his beloved dogs Susie and Billy.
