William Charles Putney Obituary
May 15, 1929 - April 11, 2017 Passed away at his home surrounded by friends and family after a short illness. Bill was born in San Francisco to Charles A. Putney and Katherine Madeline Simmons. Beloved life partner for 52 years, Robert Tamkin, and brother Harold Levitt, preceded him in death. He is survived by his nephew, Lansford Levitt (Linda) of Reno, Nevada, and grandnieces Carolyn Levitt of Reno and Cynthia Clevenger (Brian) of San Francisco. He attended Lowell High School in San Francisco and graduated from the University of Southern California where he was a member of Phi Delta Theta. He served in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War. Bill and Bob owned Personality Travel & Tours in West Hollywood which they operated for over 30 years. Their clients included the "Who's Who" of Hollywood's celebrities. They enjoyed traveling the world meeting interesting people along the way. After retiring, they made their home in Monarch Beach (Dana Point). One of Bill's most rewarding experiences in retirement was volunteering for Laguna Shanti in Laguna Beach. At Bill's request, there will be no services. In lieu of flowers the family asks that donations be made to a .
