William H. Guilfoy Obituary
November 8, 1928 - January 5, 2016 Bill Guilfoy was born in New York where he worked for Sorg Printing as a Vice-President/Sales Manager. He relocated to Los Angeles with Sorg Printing in 1963. Bill had a love for horses and formed a partnership with horse trainer, Celia ("Cece") E. Thorsen at the Michael Manesco equestrian training facility near Griffith Park, which facility now houses the Los Angeles Police Department Mounted Platoon. In the course of their partnership, Bill and Cece relocated to Santa Barbara where they operated a large horse facility at Rancho Asoleado, specializing in training show horses (hunters and jumpers) and teaching many successful horse show riders. Bill and Cece bought and sold horses and developed a business in horse sales with a special talent at matching just the right horse with just the right rider. They relocated their operation to the Santa Ynez Valley where they operated Centurion Farm in Solvang. At the time of his death, Bill resided in Solvang. He is survived by his partner Cece and two sisters, Sheila Russell and Joan Gould of Massachusetts. His brother, Gregory Guilfoy, preceded Bill in death. Bill had many friends in Solvang and is missed very much. Cece continues to share her equestrian expertise with customers at Jedlicka's Saddlery in Los Olivos.
