William Leonard Plunkett Obituary
June 1929 - August 2016 Bill passed away after a short illness of heart failure at the age of 87 in San Marino. He was born in Los Angles to Dorothy and William Plunkett. He graduated from Harvard military high school and then graduated from Amherst Collage in Amherst Massachusetts. His love of cars lead him to his first job selling cars for Lathrop Hoffman. He became a Studebaker, Pontiac and Mercedes dealer in Fullerton Ca. Then he was offered the opportunity to build the VW dealership in Sunland Tujunga, which he owned for over 20 years. He also was in the auto leasing business. He was chairman of the VW National Dealers Association. He was President of Los Angles Rotary Club 5 and District Governor of District 5280. He was President of several other organizations in Los Angles and Pasadena. He was a long time member of San Marino Community Church. He loved classic cars, especially the '36 Cords. He also loved his home, garden, and his family. He will be missed by his wife Harriet of 54 years, his daughter and son-in-law Patricia and Rudy Colonello, son William Haake Plunkett, grandson William Connor Plunkett, and the family dog Sandy.
