William Mark Tollefson Obituary
October 29, 1937 - October 13, 2016 Born to parents Alf and Doris Tollefson (deceased) in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Bill's family moved to San Diego, California in 1951 and Bill graduated from San Diego High School in 1955. Bill married Lee (deceased) in 1958 in San Francisco, Ca. and together they shared 55 wonderful years. He is survived by three children: Melissa Tollefson, Jamie Tollefson (wife Lisa) and Nathaniel Tollefson; two grandchildren: Sequoyah Leaf (wife Maggie) and Sylvanwillow Leaf (husband Craig); two great-grandchildren: Versailles and Vigo. Bill served in the Armed Forces from 1958 to 1960. Bill had a passion for reading and loved books which inspired Bill and Lee to open a bookstore for a short period in 1968. In his early career Bill, worked for Wahrenbrock's and Barnes & Noble book distributors. He then went to work for Alessio Motors a distributorship of International Harvester in 1970 as a truck salesman. He loved selling trucks and buses along with working with members of the California Dump Truck Owners Association and many of the truck bodies and trucking companies. Bill prided himself on providing quality salesmanship and service to his customers, resulting in valued and long lasting relationships. He continued to work for International Harvester distributorship (Dion International) until the time of his death. Bill served on the board of Aseltine School for Children with Disabilities for twenty years and remained a devoted supporter of the Aseltine cause. Bill was very passionate about music and loved to play his guitars. He always had a guitar with him when he traveled. Bill (and his guitar) were hosts to many social fundraising events. His other interests were the San Diego Repertory Theater and the San Diego Blue Grass Society. Bill was an amazing father at a time when fathers were the breadwinners; he loved, played and enjoyed his kids and family. His presence in this world enriched the lives of all who knew him. He was an inspiration in the truest sense and through his example, we learned to live and love more fully. In lieu of flowers, please send donations in his name to the Aseltine School, 4027 Normal Street, San Diego, CA 92103 or the San Diego Repertory Theater, 79 Horton Plaza, San Diego, CA 92101-6144.
