William R. Bidermann Obituary
April 16, 1923 - July 13, 2015 William Robert "Bill" Bidermann, 92, passed away on Monday, July 13, 2015, in San Luis Obispo, California. ?He was born on April 16, 1923, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania to Gustav Ferdinand Bidermann and Elizabeth Margaret (Cooley) Bidermann. He was raised in New York City until enlisting in the Army in 1942. Bill served as a combat infantryman in the 1st army 9th armored division and in Patton's Army, carrying an M1 rifle from Le Havre, France shortly after D-Day, across the bridge at Remagen and on to Prague, Czechoslovakia when the Allies were victorious. Bill returned stateside, graduated from MIT and became an aerospace engineer. He worked at Rocketdyne on the design and development of large liquid-fueled rocket engines for NASA's missions from Mercury to Project Apollo that delivered the first men to the moon, finishing his career with the Space Shuttle Main Engine and Peacekeeper missile. Bill loved family, country, camping, computers, and animals. He is survived by two sons, Bill and Steve; daughter, Susan; two grandsons, two great-grandsons, nieces, and nephews. ?? Mr. Bidermann will be interred alongside his beloved wife Virginia Ann "Ginny" (Smith) Bidermann at Fort Rosecrans National Cemetery in San Diego on September 18, 2015.
