William Vincent O'Connor Obituary
June 10, 1942 - February 27, 2016 Bill O'Connor served his country, community, friends, and family with contagious and unparalleled enthusiasm. Born in Los Angeles to Claire and Hon. Edward J. O'Connor, he attended Loyola High School of Los Angeles ('60) and the U.S. Naval Academy ('64), where he was a collegiate swimmer. Bill completed flight training and became a Naval aviator. He flew around the world, including Europe, North Africa, and the Middle East. In 1973, he received a law degree from Loyola Law School, becoming a skilled trial attorney, trusted by his clients and partners. He formally retired as a partner from Kern & Wooley LLP in 2005 after 33 years in practice, but continued to provide legal help to his family and the community. In retirement, Bill enjoyed swimming at the Jonathan Club, entertaining friends and family on his boat, and spending time with his wife. He resided in Venice. Bill is survived by his wife, Mary, his two sons, Billy (Terren) and Joe (Claire) O'Connor, and three grandchildren, Josephine, Will, and Owen. He was adored by his five siblings Barbara Augustine, Sheran (Walter) Hoye, Edward (Laura) O'Connor, Mary (Chris) Schade, and Maureen (John) Heintz, and 16 nieces and nephews. Memorial Mass will be held, Monday, March 7, 10:00 a.m., at St. Paul the Apostle Church, 10750 Ohio Ave. Los Angeles, CA 90024.
