William Wood Lee Obituary
December 14, 1927 - August 3, 2017 William Wood Lee was born on December 14th, 1927 in Lafayette, Indiana, to William H. Lee and Gim Yen Lee. He briefly attended Purdue University and completed his undergraduate degree at the University of Indiana. He also received his medical degree from there in 1954. Dr. Lee spent 63 years in private practice in Santa Monica and Los Angeles. He was an ear, nose and throat surgeon at Veterans Administration, Santa Monica Hospital and St. John's Hospital. He also taught at UCLA Medical School and served in the US Coast Guard inspecting ships and tending to sick crew members for the Health Department during the Korean War. His hobbies were fine dining, wine, thoroughbred horse racing, jazz and fine art. He enjoyed watching a variety of sports and he derived great joy from rooting for all Indiana University and UCLA sports teams. Bill met the love of his life, Chizuko Kawamoto in Honolulu, Hawaii. They married in 1960 in San Francisco and moved back to Hawaii. They eventually settled in Los Angeles in 1963 living in Santa Monica and Brentwood. They were married 55 years. "Bill" Lee is survived by his children, Will Jonathan Lee, Adrienne Lee Allnatt, Matthew Allnatt, and Kris Bergen, and step-grandchildren Oliver Allnatt and Madeline Allnatt. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations may be made to St. John's Cleft Palate Center at St. John's Foundation, 2121 Santa Monica Blvd., Santa Monica, CA 90404.
