Yasuko was born in Japan on April 27, 1927, and spent most of her childhood in parts of China, where her father was in government service, before returning to Japan. In 1947 post WWII Tokyo, she met and married her husband, Alden Takahashi of California. They raised their three children in Japan until immigrating to the Los Angeles area in 1959 to join Alden's family. Yasuko was an active and talented person and had many lifelong friends. She was a philanthropist at heart, always doing for others to better their lives. She worked as a seamstress for most of her life and created beautiful garments and crafts for her appreciative clients, family and friends. She was equally talented at knitting, embroidery and cooking, always to benefit her friends and family. She belonged to the Family YMCA in Torrance for over 30 years, volunteering in their Seniors Program. She dedicated herself to her project of making Huggie Bears for children in need. To relax, she enjoyed reading, playing the piano, and traveling. Her family and friends will always remember her as a generous, loving, and fun person.
