Yetta D. Licht Shragg Obituary
April 17, 1923 - April 20, 2016 Yetta Shragg passed away peacefully at the Jewish Home for the Aging after a long but valiant struggle with Alzheimer's disease. Born in Minneapolis, Yetta graduated from North High. She married her childhood sweetheart, Harry Shragowitz, on August 27, 1944. Yetta, Harry, and their 2 children moved to Southern California in 1956, where they remained. Yetta was an avid golfer. She also enjoyed tennis and travel. She appreciated beauty and color in the world, from her flower bed, to trees in a park, to fashion and style. She had a passion for music of all types, was a talented improviser on the piano, and loved all things Gershwin. She was a champion of the underdog, donating time and money to Haven House, the first domestic violence shelter of its kind in the country. She was predeceased by brothers Hirsh and Nina, and leaves behind her devoted husband of 71 years, Harry, daughter Lynn Sperling (Arnie) and son Bruce (Robyn Samuels), granddaughters Lily and Shira, and loving sister, Fritzi Goodman, along with many in-laws, cousins, nieces and nephews. Donations in her memory may be made to the Los Angeles Jewish Home for the Aging or American Jewish University. Funeral services will be at Eden Memorial Park in Mission Hills on Friday, April 22 at 1 PM.
