Yoneko Patricia "Pat" Ige passed away Monday December 21 in Huntington Beach, CA after brief illness at age 93. Pat was born on September 4, 1922 in Hynes, CA a rural area south east of Los Angeles to Seishin and Yuri Matayoshi. Pat was the fourth of seven children, Chiyo, Toyo, Sam, Dave, Ken and John and youngest of the three sisters. In 1961 she met the man who would be the love of her life, Takeji "Jack" Ige and they married. The following year Pat gave birth to the first of her two sons, Reggie followed two years later by Randy. Her nursing career was put on hold as she set about raising the children. In 1968 the family moved to Huntington Beach, CA When the children were older Pat decided to return to work and restarted her career as a nurse at Pacifica Hospital. She continued to work at Pacifica until her retirement in 1987. Retirement was filled with travel and other adventures including stops in the Middle East, Europe and Alaska. After Jack passed away in 1993 days were filled with church, crafts and gardening but she still managed the occasional trip to far off places including Australia and Canada. Pat is survived by brothers Dave and John Matayoshi and sons Reggie and Randy Ige. Services will be held at 11 am on Thursday, January 7, 2016, at Hope Lutheran Church in Westminster, CA.
