Yukiye Kusuda Ogata Obituary
March 15, 1923 - January 11, 2017 Yukiye "Yuki" Ogata (Kusuda) of Orange, CA passed away peacefully and is now with our Lord. Yuki was predeceased by her husband John K. Ogata of 62 years and her Issei parents Gonzo and Yoshi (Nishino) and Nisei brothers Minoru (Sugi), Isao "Ace" and Mitsugi "Mike" (Mary). Yuki is survived by her son Tim and his wife Laura (Tomita) and the joy of her life grandsons Collin, Jeff and Jonny. Yuki was born in Santa Ana, CA the youngest of the Gonzo Kusuda (Kumamoto, Kyushu Japan) family that farmed 1910's to 1940's in Irvine, Santa Ana, Tustin and Orange. Yuki grew up in Orange County, CA and graduated from Tustin High. During WW II, she and her parents were interned at the Poston, AZ (Camp I) relocation center while her brother Ace served courageously in the WWII US Army MIS 1st group deployed top secretly to the Pacific front - field commissioned to the rank of Lieutenant while her brother Mike served honorably as part of the Army's 442nd in the European front. During WWII, Yuki was able to leave Poston Internment Camp to marry her beloved husband John who served honorably in the US Army as a Sargent, medical technician and baseball team catcher at Fort Wolters, TX. Following WWII, John and Yuki returned to S. Calif. eventually settling in Orange County and in 1951 with Yuki's Kusuda brothers, John and Yuki opened the Garden Grover Nursery, Flower and Lawnmower shops. Yuki was a devout Christian and member of Wintersburg Church where she especially enjoyed their Wednesday seniors group. Yuki will be missed by her many Family and Friends but we all are comforted knowing she is now with our Lord in heaven and reunited with her pre-deceased loved ones. A celebration of Yuki's life will be Saturday, February 4th, 10:30am at Wintersburg Church, 2000 N. Fairview Street, Santa Ana, CA 92706. Casual dress attire.
