Obituary Condolences

VOORHEES, James R. "Wrangler Jim" Died on Friday, Oct. 7, 2011. He was 89. Working at a Radio Station in Santa Barbara as a Disc Jockey, he played Western Music where he developed his "Wrangler Jim" persona. In Albuquerque, New Mexico, Jim developed his TV Show known as the "Wrangler Jim Show" on KGGM TV. It was a children's show which also starred his horse, Cochise. The "Wrangler Jim" show became the most popular show in New Mexico at that time. In 1955 he was recruited by ABC TV to bring his show to Los Angeles. After his TV Show went off the air he wrote scripts for various TV series and worked for CBS, Disney and Warner Bros. After retirement from Warners he was story consultant for Jack Lemmon until Lemmon's death. If Jim had received a Chinese birthday card with their traditional question "How many glorious years have you lived?" he surely would have answer "ALL OF THEM!" Survived by wife Marti, a brother and two sisters. Preceded in death by two brothers. Donations to the Motion Picture and TV Fund Foundation may be made to honor his Memory.
