John worked for me at KLEIN & for several years as an art director. He was a sweetheart. He dressed the place up with his own brand of stylish clothing. He was a great designer. One highlight: we took over the planetarium in Pittsburgh, in behalf of the NBC station, to introduce the Fall season. John filled the place with stars. He created an entire universe. It was beautiful.

larry and I were friends and went to grade school together. We live very close as I grew up on 30th street. I did very much enjoyed watch Larry on the drums. My deepest sympathy.

John and cynthia have been friends with my father for many years. They both have always loved and spoiled me. John and i had a very special relationship. John and I were the trouble makers and cyn and my dad were the angelic ones. John taught me about music, art, and pure fun. We spent weekends at the promenade getting lost in HEAR MUSIC, seeing movies on our favorite bands and musicians. He always had a wonderful story to tell, and was always able to make everyone around him smile by trying to break his thumb off or bend a spoon. I will always be greatful for everything he and cynthia have done for me and taught me over our many adventures. Everytime I listen to the band or concert for george Ill always think of you my drumming uncle. I love you and cherish all our fantastic memories.

I met John and Cynthia when I was a young photographer just starting out. He gave me my first job and started my career for which I'm eternally grateful. Although we eventually lived in different parts of the world, over the decades, we stayed in touch and worked together again several times in more recent years when my wife and I returned to Los Angeles. He was not only a brilliant designer but a friend and always, always an inspiration. Of all the designers I've met in my career, his vision, artistry, exactness and sense of aesthetic was truly a cut above. He was demanding in the level of perfection he sought and brought out the best in me. Cynthia was an incredible support to John and there every step of the way through their journey together. He couldn't have done it without her love and that of his children. We all will miss John deeply.

I only met John a few months ago. Upon leaving his home, he stood up and held my hands; with his sparkling blue eyes, he looked directly into mine. He gave me what I expect was his characteristically charming smile and said, "Please come back and visit again," with such sincerity, I could not wait to pay him another visit... Such a sweet man! -- mms

Discovery of John's obit was purely accidental. John and Cindy were my landlords in Cedar Falls Iowa. It was back in the 60's on , I think, Merner Avenue. I lived in the basement. They were nice guys then and according to the guest book entries they have continued to be so. Condolences to Cindy and the family & to John, happy landings.

I met John on a student tour of his studio in 1972 and got my first look at a pro doing it his way and having fun doing it. I just loved his style of design. He was a great influence. I'm so happy to have seen him a year ago. End of an era!

I met John while still a student. He epitomized an uncompromised design vision in all aspects of his life. His kindness and generosity helped open a door on the possibilities. My deepest condolences to his beautiful family.

John was a great influence in my life as a mentor, role model, and aesthetic guru. He taught me the importance of doing everything with dedication, care, committment and style, whether the task at hand was significant or seemingly inconsequential. His boundless energy, his humanity, his wit, his intellect and his enthusiasm served as a reminder to all who knew him that the experience of living life to the fullest is as important as the things we accomplish during the time we are alive. I consider myself fortunate to have had both John and his wonderful wife Cynthia in my life for over three decades. To say this truly unique individual will be missed would be an understatement. Love to John and Cyndi.

I met John when he was an art director for Warner Records. His enthusiasm for his work was infectious—he had a razor sharp sense of design, a quick mind, and a sincere love of his craft. He truly was a joy to work with and to know as a dear friend for these past thirty plus years—a truly sweet man with a deep love of life. John will be dearly missed by many, many people.

His talent was boundless. And he was as nice a guy as you'd ever meet. Those
were really fun days and I'm sure John helped us get the most out of them.
So long for now, John. We'll see each other in the afterlife. Bob Klein

I am so sorry for your loss. I have fun memories of when I first met John. He knew so much about decorating and fashion and I loved talking with him. He enjoyed showing Burt and I around Beverly Hills and when we all went to the 1984 Olympics, we had the best time. He will be fondly remembered.
