September 27, 1920 - September 23, 2014 Cyrus Jhabvala, would have been 94 today. He passed away peacefully on September 23rd. Cyrus was one of seven children, born in Bombay to Zoroastrian parents. He went to England in 1946 where he met his wife Ruth Prawer and became a fellow of the Royal Institute of British Architects. They have three daughters and six grandchildren. They were married for 62 years till Ruth passed away in 2013. His architectural practice was very successful in Delhi, India, where he was known for his elegant designs. He was a popular teacher at the Delhi School of Architecture where he revolutionised the concepts of teaching. He was a fine artist and his pencil drawings of monuments and scenes in Delhi can be seen in his three publications. Later, he moved to New York to be with Ruth and there developed his skills as a painter, capturing scenes from Manhattan. He was fondly known for his wit and humour, not to mention his great generosity and will be hugely missed by family and friends. The funeral will be held at Hollywood Forever, 6000 Santa Monica Blvd at 10.30 am on 28th September.
