He became a US citizen in 1955. That year he also joined the Order of the Knights of Columbus and in 1956 he joined Rotary International and became a member of the Paramount Chamber of Commerce. From the time he settled in Paramount, he was a very active member of Our Lady of the Rosary Catholic Church. He is survived by his second wife Beatrice, his 8 children and her 2 children, numerous grand and great-grandchildren, a sister in The Netherlands and a brother in Michigan and many nieces and nephews. Not sure what to say?

I was so sorry to hear of the loss of your father. What a lucky man to have had you for his daughter. He obviously was a good parent. I know you will miss him terribly.

Dear children of Mike and Betty,
You don't know me but I remember your parents very well, also Michael, Stephen, Linda and Dennis. I was the baby sitter for your parents during the 50s, as well as mothers helper when Linda and Dennis were born. As a young teen, just from Holland I learned so much from your mom and just loved being with you kids. What a happy time it was when Linda was born, after first 2 boys.
Your Dad was the to go to insurance man for all the recent immigrants from Holland. At first they lived on Paramount blvd. but then they went to --- wasn't it Georgia Ave? I had to keep the kids out of the way during the move. Aunts Kay and Linda were also helping. What a beautiful home that was and what a special family. I felt so privileged being with you all.
I know there were 4 more children but during that time I started my own family and we moved up to Washington State. I did visit with your mom one more time when I was in Calif. and much later I met Stephen when he was a pastor in Los Gatos, Calif. You children were blessed with wonderful parents. I thanked God many times for bringing me to your family for I learned so much during that time; things I needed to know for raising my own family of 6.
May our Heavenly Father comfort you in this time of sorrow, as only He can. And may you also know and believe that the only way to the Father is through his Son, Jesus Christ.
Yes, I loved reading those Bible stories to you kids when you were little. I'd love to meet you, as well as your parents, again; some bright morning. My prayers are with you.
John 14:1-6.
