Sgt. David Alan Bauer
David Alan Bauer died Saturday, October fifth, two thousand thirteen. Always a night owl, he left this earth a few minutes before midnight with his children and grandchildren at his side. David was born and spent his entire life in Long Beach, California; the city he loved and proudly served as a member of the Long Beach Police Department. After nearly forty years of law enforcement, David retired as a sergeant from the police department. He spent the rest of his years enjoying traveling to Mexico, playing with his trains, and making his grandchildren laugh to the point of not being able to breath. He was a hell of a guy and will be missed very much. He is survived by his beloved daughters, Cynthia and Cassandra, his son-in-law, Jack, and his grandchildren, Sara, Kelsey, Caitlin, Spencer, and Taylor. Dave and I went to school together we had a lot in common the funniest time was at Long Beach City College when we were taking a class in First Aid, We both entered law department I went to Los Angeles County Sheriff as Deputy. We kept in touch all those years. The very moment Dave left this earth and went to heaven Jesus knew he a good and righest soldier until we meet again God Bless

I think of David often. He was a caring and kind person even though he seemed gruff. May he rest in peace.

David was a very good friend for 40+ years and my landlord for a short while. Reading these gives a great overview of the type of guy, friend and LBPD officer he was. Still missed by many - but will never be forgotten.

I met David on a blind date when I was 15 or 16. He amused me from the get-go. When he called to set up the date he said we needed to agree that if either of us wasn't impressed with the other it wasn't going to proceed. I lived with my Dad and I always throught David came over to see him more than me. They were an odd couple but never tired of one another's company. We used to drive around, get ice cream, listen to records and often pick up his mother, Clara, from her swing shift job on Terminal Island. It was a simple and sweet friendship. We somehow managed to keep in touch over a half century and I treasure that friendship more than words can say. I miss you David Alan Bauer and, as my first love, you set the bar awfully high. Quite a guy.

I worked with Davy in the Robbery Div. @ LBPD many years ago and he was the nicest, most caring man there. He had a personality that was larger than life and could make you laugh out loud within seconds. I am so sad to hear of his passing; RIP, you lovely man.

Davey: It was an honor to work under your supervision. Both of us thought you were a great person and sergeant. You were always in our corner when others broke and ran. I'm very sad you're gone. Rest in peace.

David watched over me, my kids... all of us who lived on Colorado Place in L.B. He always made us laugh. He was quite the character, a very giving friend. He was very proud to be a LBPD officer (Sargeant). There will never be another David Alan Bauer...just NOT possible! R.I.P. David!
