A Remarkable Life

Alma Irene Dickinson

February 21, 1930 - December 24, 2017

Alma Dickinson, longtime Press-Telegram employee, dies at 87.

Alma Irene Dickinson, a former, longtime employee at the Press-Telegram, passed away December 24 in Pahrump, Nevada. She was 87.
Alma was born February 21, 1930 in Ray, Colorado. Her family moved to Long Beach and Alma graduated from Wilson High School in 1947.
As soon as she graduated, she started working part-time in the circulation department at the Press-Telegram. In 1963 she began working full-time in the newsroom as executive administrative assistant to several editors, the last being Larry Allison, the Press-Telegram's late executive editor. Her late eldest son, Curt, also worked for 14 years as a pressman at the Press-Telegram. Alma retired in 1993 after 46 years at the Press-Telegram and moved to Pahrump in 2011 to be closer to her daughter, Lucinda Leseberg.
Her family remembers her fondly as a loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She said it was "the greatest feeling of joy" being a grandparent. She loved to knit and crochet, bake and make candy. Alma also loved her three Shih Tzu dogs.
Alma is survived by her son, Alan; daughter, Lucinda; two daughter-in-laws; seven grandchildren, and 14 great-grandchildren.
A Celebration of Life service will be held at 1:30 p.m. Saturday (January 6) at Westminster Memorial Park Mortuary, 14801 Beach Blvd., Westminster, CA. Please sign the guest book at www.presstelegram.com/obits.
