Annie Troost Obituary
Annie Troost

Annie was born on May 2, 1920 to Meije & Antje Lanting in Oosthem, Friesland, The Netherlands and went home to be with the Lord on June 7, 2018. At the age of three she and her parents and two brothers left Friesland to make a new home in America because the future there didn't look promising for a young family. They arrived at Ellis Island and then departed by train across the U.S. and came to Clearwater-Hynes (Paramount) to start a small dairy of 30 cows. Sister Aggie was born here. The family were charter members of a new Reformed church which formed as more immigrants arrived (Emmanuel Reformed). Later they moved the dairy to Artesia and were charter members of Artesia Reformed Church.
Annie attended Artesia Grammar School and graduated from Excelsior High School in 1938. In 1941 she married Fred Troost, who also had migrated to Artesia from Iowa. Together they had five sons and one daughter. They started dairying, first on Pioneer Blvd., then Orangethorpe, both in Artesia, then moved to 183rd in Cerritos. In 1971, the final dairy move was to Mira Loma where they were faithful members of Church on the Hill, Norco. Annie was a homemaker with family life centered around home, church and school. She loved her family and faithfully sent cards and notes to all. She enjoyed skating, water skiing, bowling and golf, and she and Fred enjoyed travels to many countries with tour groups.
Annie taught Sunday School for 25 years and was involved in VBS, PTA, and Mothers' Club. She enjoyed singing in church choirs in Artesia and Norco. Fred died in 1998, the married children moved their dairies away, and Annie moved to Ontario which she called home for many years.
Annie is pre-deceased by her husband, Fred; brothers, Shoerd & Broer Lanting; eldest son, John; and great-grandson, Garyn. Annie is survived by children, Jinet Troost, Chowchilla; Maynard & Marie Troost, Bakersfield; Phil & Deb Troost, Lake Arthur, NM; Randy & Joanne Verhoeven, Huntington Beach, Gary & Wendy Troost, Stayton, OR; and Fred A. Troost, Escondido, sister, Aggie Fikse, San Jacinto, and sister-in-law, Audrey Lanting, Chino. Also survived by 16 grandchildren, 40 great grandchildren, 4 great-great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
Viewing will be held on Wednesday, June 13 from 6-8 pm at Drapers Mortuary. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, June 14 at 10:00 a.m. in the Chapel of Ontario Christian High School, 931 W. Philadelphia, Ontario.
