Constance E. Shainline (Carter) September 29, 2008 Connie E. Shainline, active member of numerous CSULB organ izations and friend to many passed away suddenly after heart complications on Monday, September 29, 2008. Born April 5, 1930, in rural Virginia, Connie relocated to California in the mid-1950s. There she raised two sons, worked hard in the business world and earned a B.S. degree from CSULB while in her mid 40s. In keeping with her adventuresome spirit, she loved to travel and meet new people. Her travels included the continents of Africa, Asia and Europe. She was dedicated to her CSULB community. She was an ardent supporter of athletics where she enthusiastically attended numerous sporting events and team related functions. She volunteered in organizations such as "Fine Arts Affliates" and "Women in Philanthrophy". Connie was known for her warm heart, vivacious laugh and generous nature. As one of Connie's close friends said, "Connnie never met a stranger". In the words of her husband John (Jack) Shainline, retired Vice President of Student Services at CSULB, "Connie was the most loving supportive wife a husb and could have". She is also survived by two sons, Dennis Brando and Craig Brandau and her daughter-in-law, Cali Rose Brandau; three step-children, Leslie Woldenberg, Michael Shainline and Jan Goetz, their spouses and six children and numerous friends. Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, October 4, 2008 at Soroptimist House on the campus of University of California at Long Beach from 9:30-11:00am. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to Women in Philanthrophy.
