John Myron Wells Obituary
John Myron Wells September 10, 1942 - November 4, 2018 John Myron Wells was born and raised in Sacramento, California and passed away in Long Beach, California surrounded by family having finally lost a spirited 19 year battle with prostate cancer. He was a self-taught shade-tree mechanic throughout his formative years, and eventually graduated from Cal Poly San Luis Obispo as a Mechanical Engineer. John married his high school sweetheart Sandy Pucci in 1965, and then moved extensively for work, making friends in Saugus & Houston, before finally settling in Long Beach in 1976 to join Cavanaugh Machine Works, ultimately becoming full owner. He and Sandy made Long Beach their home, where they raised three boys, and made lifelong friends and a multitude of contributions to the community. John & Sandy found their love of sailing shortly after arriving in Long Beach, with countless family sailing trips to Catalina aboard their sailboat. They joined the Blue Water Cruising Club in 1984 and enjoyed many wonderful weekends in Gieger Cove, where they continued to establish more lifelong friendships. John also developed a passion for golf and became a member of Virginia Country Club in 1997, where once again in normal fashion, he developed more lifelong friendships. Along the way he shared many exotic vacations with his many friends and family. John & Sandy enjoyed sharing their childhood family cabins in Wrights Lake and Lake Tahoe every summer, from their own youth all the way through to their grandkids. In later years, John loved rebuilding old cars, and could frequently be seen driving around in his '53 Ford convertible or '48 F1 Pickup Truck, listening to 40's & 50's music, and smiling his way down the road. If you knew John, you loved John. For many people, he was their favorite person when they needed a laugh, something fixed, or simply an honest appraisal of what was happening in the world. Never short on words, John was always interested in what you were doing, and always had a smile. He leaves a legacy of humor, music, and camaraderie, and will be missed by many, but never forgotten. He is survived by wife Sandy, son Mike (Shannon) and grandson Brody (20) and granddaughter Larkin (17), son Charlie (Neesha) and granddaughter Eva (14), son Tim (Kirsten) and granddaughter Maggie (11) and grandson Adam (9), brother Sam (Lynne), sister Mary, and numerous nephews and nieces. John's Celebration of Life will be on Friday, November 16 at 2:00 p.m. at Virginia Country Club located at 4602 N. Virginia Road, Long Beach, California.
