Leroy (Roy) Eggink Obituary
Leroy (Roy) Eggink 11/11/2019 - 01/03/2019 Leroy (Roy) Eggink passed away peacefully on January 3, 2019, at age 99. Roy was born on November 11, 1919, in Hull, Iowa son to Ralph & Nellie (Bos) Eggink. After serving in the U.S. Army for 4 years he met his bride Dorothy (Hauge) Eggink in Cheyenne, Wyoming. Their loving marriage of 73 years is the cornerstone for the family they raised in Bellflower, CA. Roy leaves behind his loving wife, Dorothy, and his two surviving children Coni Cox-Burrison and Robert (Bob) Eggink. Roy is further survived & loved by his grandchildren; Lori Roelofs, Casey Cox, Robert Jon Burrison and his 5 great-grandchildren in the Roelofs and Cox families. Roy's youngest son, Mark Eggink and his grandson, Robby Cox, preceded him. One of Roy's first jobs was delivering the Long Beach Press-Telegram. He attended Excelsior High School & then went on to earn his Master's degree from USC. He made his career teaching Accounting classes in the Bellflower Unified School District and later became an Administrator. He loved attending and supporting the Bellflower Presbyterian Church & New Life Church in Artesia. Roy was a supporter of the Y's men, raising funds for the YMCA and holding various offices. Roy will be laid to rest at Forest Lawn, Cypress on Friday, Jan. 18th at 9:00 a.m with a graveside service. There will be a celebration of life service on Saturday, Jan. 19, at 12:00 noon at New Life Church, Artesia. Please sign the guestbook at presstelegram.com.
