Loyd Aldred Schemper

December 22, 1928 – February 13, 2018

Loyd Aldred Schemper, a generous and caring Christian man, died on Tuesday, February 13, 2018. He enjoyed life and he loved and trusted Jesus Christ as Savior. His sisters, brother-in-law, children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and friends give thanks to God for him. Loyd was born on his family's farm in Luctor, Kansas. He moved with his family to North Long Beach in 1936. In 1948 he married the love of his life, Louise Van Houten (1928-2008). Together they raised four children in Bellflower, and were faithful members of Bethany Christian Reformed Church. He had a forty year career in the aerospace industry as a manufacturing supervisor, working primarily for North American Rockwell in Downey, Los Angeles, and Seal Beach. Loyd is remembered as a man of integrity, kindness, and patience, virtues that were especially on display in his diligent care for his wife Louise as she suffered from Alzheimer's disease in her final years. Loyd will be missed by his sisters and brother-in-law, Audrene Schmidt, and Fran and Len Van Noord; by his sons, daughters, and their spouses, Linda and Bill Hagedorn, Lugene and Carla Schemper, Henry and Pam Schemper, and Marie and Mark Evans; by his eleven grandchildren and their spouses; and by his nineteen great-grandchildren and his many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his sister Verla and one grandchild, Benjamin.

Visitation hours will be from 2–6 pm on Friday, February 23, 2018 at White's Funeral Home, 9903 E. Flower St., Bellflower CA.
