Mark Eastman Obituary
Mark W. Eastman July 2, 1947 - August 5, 2018 Life-long resident of Long Beach, Mark Eastman, 71, passed away August 5, 2018, of respiratory complications. Mark was the second son of William and Helen Eastman of Long Beach, and the grandson of John and Gertrude Wagner, also of Long Beach. Mark attended local schools Lowell, Rogers and Wilson High, and majored in journalism at Cal-State Long Beach. Mark had a passion for photography and had his own darkroom to develop and enlarge the pictures that he would take. His love of photography and journalism would lead into a lifetime of work in this field. He was editor of the Wilson High and Cal-State Long Beach Forty-Niner newspapers. He was involved with local community newspapers as a reporter, photographer, editor, and publisher, and worked for the Marina News, Grunion Gazette, Signal Hill Tribune, the magazine Long Beach Review, and had his own weekly, The Signal. He also was a free-lance photographer, doing weddings and photography shoots for the city of Long Beach and surrounding cities. When attending any event, he would have his camera at the ready, always looking for that perfect shot. Mark had a gentle demeanor that endeared him to family, friends, and the wonderful care-givers who were a big part of his life the past ten years. Mark was a solid believer, loved Bible scripture, and is at this moment in the presence of his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Mark is survived by his brothers, John (Gretchen) and Kent (Sharon); aunt, Dorothy Wise and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. There will be a memorial service for family and friends on Saturday, September 1, 2018. Please contact family for details. Please sign the guestbook at www.presstelegram.com/obits
