Mark Speizer Obituary
Mark Speizer 1922-2018

Mark, born and raised in rural Pennsylvania, came to California while serving in the military during WWII. Soon after, he met and fell in love with the love of his life, Nancy. They settled in Long Beach and raised a family among a vibrant and loving Jewish community. Mark created a very successful food blending and packaging business, Namar, where he continued to man the helm until the last few weeks of his life. During his lifetime he served on several boards and generously contributed to the needs of his community. Mark lived a joyful almost-96 years. He lived so long, and so all-in, that his children, Gail and Carl (Judi), his three grandchildren, Brian (Adrienne), Jordan (Gina) and Ethan, and his three great-grandchildren, began to wonder if maybe, just maybe, he might be the one who never left us. But he did, passing from his final, illuminated self, in his own home, with Nancy, his wife of 69 years, at his side. Mark had been living a kind of lightness of being for so long that his passing felt like a faint breeze. We are all full with the knowing of that, and grateful. A celebration of life for Mark will be held on Monday, March 5, 2018 at 11am at Temple Israel, 269 Loma Ave, Long Beach, CA. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Speizer Youth Development Fund at Temple Israel. Please sign the guest book. www.presstelegram.com/obits.
