Wilbur Nelson Obituary

WILBUR E. NELSON 1910 - 2003Dr. Wilbur E. Nelson, internationally-known pastor and religious broadcaster, passed away peacefully on Friday, August 22, 2003 in Laguna Woods, CA. He was 92 years old. A native of Denver, Colorado, Wilbur Nelson was best known as one of the pioneers of religious broadcasting. In 1944 he founded the Morning Chapel Hour, a daily national half-hour program that was heard on stations across America and overseas. Dr. Nelson pastored two churches: Grace Church of Huntington Park; and the Evangelical Free Church of Paramo unt. He also pastored the Evangelical Free Church of Wheaton, Illinois. He was deeply involved in mission outreaches to children in Hong Kong and Korea. Dr. Nelson was married for 67 years to Ethyl Nelson, who passed away in November 2000. He is survived by his son, Norm; 2 grandsons, and 4 great-grandchildren. The memorial service will be held on Saturday, September 13, 2003, at 10:00 a.m. at the First Evangelical Free Church of Fullerton. 1box Lucille C. (Nieto) Lee 1950 - 2003 Lucille C . (Nieto) Lee, born September 4, 1950, passed away August 24, 2003. Survived by loving husband, Brian; daughter, Sirena; brother, Tim Nieto; sister, Irene Sanchez; nephews, David, Michael Nieto, James Kemper, Alex Sanchez, Timmy Nieto, Gabe, Nick and Tyler Nieto; nieces, Christen Nieto, Christina Sanchez, Tiana Nieto, Makayla Nieto and Camerin Nieto. Preceded in death by her mother, Beatrice; father, David; brothers, David and Ron Nieto. A 1968 graduate of Lakewood High School, she was an executive secretar y, bookkeeper, tax preparer and former driver of the T-R3 Resin Glaze Special Top Fuel Dragster. She was the first Latina driver in professional motor sports and won the NHRA Southern Nationals and the Bakersfield Top Fuel and Gas Championship in which she defeated Shirley Muldowney in the finals in 1982. She had many friends and relatives and touched all of them in some way. ShUU
