William Mutch (Bill) Mitchell Obituary
William (Bill) Mutch Mitchell
11/11/1928 – 2/16/2018
"Beloved Husband, Father, Grandfather and Great Grandfather."

William Mutch Mitchell was born in Wyandotte Michigan to William and Gertrude Mitchell of Scotland. He was a proud "First Generation American". He loved sports and played football, baseball and ran track. He attended the Detroit Institute of Technology to study engineering and married his high school sweetheart, Barbara Ann, while finishing school and working for General Motors as an engineer. The growth of the aeronautical industry brought him and his family to California where he worked at Vandenberg Air Force Base near Santa Maria, CA and Rockwell International in Downey, CA on the Minuteman missile program and the Apollo space program. He enjoyed working as a referee and umpire for the Pop Warner Football league and for the CIF athletic organization for local high schools and junior colleges. He was also a baseball coach for middle leagues in Santa Maria and a coach for senior leagues in Long Beach. Because he began his career in the automotive industry, he always believed in … and bought American cars. He was admired and envied for his full head of hair that he had for his entire life! He also had a positive attitude on life.

He is survived by his sons, Dennis and Daryle, daughter Diane, granddaughter Amanda and great granddaughter Capri. He was preceded in death by his wife Barbara and his grandson Kevin.

Funeral services will be held at Forest Lawn, Cypress on Saturday, March 3, 2018 at 9:00am. Viewing will be held Friday, March 2, 2018 from 5-9pm. Please sign the guest book,
