It is with deep sadness and heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved mother, sister, grandmother, aunt and friend, Eva Villa Alvarez, age 83, of Las Cruces on Sunday, Dec. 15, 2013, at Memorial Medical Center surrounded by her loving family. Eva was born Feb. 19, 1930, in Murrieta, Calif., to Miguel F. and Eusebia Montano Villa. She was a homemaker and a member of the Baptist Church. Those left to mourn her passing include one son, Kenny Luna; four daughters, Esmeralda "Esmi" Trujillo, Yolanda "Yoli" Alvarez, Lorena Luna, and Bayola Moreno, all of Las Cruces; one brother, Benjamin Villa and wife, Licha, of Mexico, and a sister, Marcelina Cole of Colorado. Other survivors include 19 grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren and seven great-great-grandchildren, as well as numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. Eva was preceded in death by her parents; a son, Rene Alvarez in 2006; numerous brothers and sisters, a granddaughter, a grandson and her son-in-law, Prisciliano "Presci" Trujillo. Visitation for Mrs. Alvarez will begin at 9:30 a.m. today, Dec. 18, 2013, in Baca's Chapel of Prayer, 300 E. Boutz Road with the Funeral Service scheduled at 10 a.m. Concluding service and interment will follow in Hillcrest Memorial Gardens Cemetery, 5140 W. Picacho Ave. where she will be laid to rest in the family plot. Serving as casket bearers will be Kevin Oliver, Gabriel and Richard Trujillo, Samantha Woodward, Randy Cole, Derek Sanchez and Kenny James Luna. Honorary bearers will be John David Castillo, Vicente Charles Medina and Adrian Alvarez.
