Angel Barrio Obituary
Our beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend, Angel Rafael Barrio, age 67, of Las Cruces left his dwelling place on earth and entered eternal life to be with his heavenly Father on Thursday, February 8, 2018 at University Medical Center in El Paso, TX. He was born October 2, 1950 in Las Cruces to Samuel and Esther Zamora Barrio. Angel served his country honorably in the United States Army during the Vietnam Era and was a member of the VFW Post #10124. At the time of his death, Angel was employed as a Customs Agent with Homeland Security a career he begun on June 10, 1996. He was a member of the Catholic Church.

Those left to mourn his passing include his loving wife, Bertha Lopez Barrio of the family home; two sons, Angel Barrio Jr. and Javier Lopez (Henrietta); two daughters, Veronica Hernandez (Jaime), Venesa Clark (Jason) all of Las Cruces; three brothers, Alex Barrio of Surprise, AZ, Michael Barrio, Richard Barrio; three sisters, Rebecca Viramontes, Patsy Barrio and Stella Barrio all also of Las Cruces. Other survivors include nine grandchildren, Elijah, Angelo, Dante and Santiago Barrio, Jacob, Josiah, and Yasmine Hernandez, Ari Clark, and Miguel Lopez as well as numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Samuel Barrio Jr.; a nephew, Brandon Flores and his Grandma Margarita.

Visitation will begin at 2 PM Thursday, February 15, 2018 in the Cathedral of Immaculate Heart of Mary, 1240 S. Espina where the Prayer Vigil is scheduled for 3 PM. The Funeral Mass will be celebrated immediately thereafter. Honors will be accorded by the US Customs and Border Protection Agents. Cremation will follow and Inurnment of Cremains will be held at a later date in Hillcrest Memorial Gardens Cemetery with military honors accorded by a New Mexico National Honor Guard and the Marine Corps League – El Perro Diablo Detachment.

Serving as casket bearers will be Alex, Michael and Richard Barrio, Manny Sanchez, Joe Lopez and Javier Robles.
