Carlos Leon Cano Obituary
Carlos Leon Cano

If you are his family, his friend or you were lucky enough to know Carlos, or to be a part of his life, you quickly learned how big and generous a heart he had. If he had (something), he shared: food, drink, work, help with his own hands, smiles and laughter, even money. Action was his love language.
In his own way, Carlos loved life; he traveled all over the US and Mexico, unafraid to explore and experience new adventures.
It seemed there wasn't anything he couldn't do: carpentry, plumbing, construction, heavy equipment operating, cooking, cleaning,(you name it!) working with a shovel. He never shunned any of it; he was a hard working man.
So many with whom he met, he became life-long friends. He had his demons he fought, but he has made a huge impact on so many lives and continues to do so through his loved ones and the family he's left behind. He is loved and he is missed.
Carlos was born to Alfredo Leon Villegas and Maria Ester Cano Domingo October 18, 1951, in Madera Chihuahua, Mexico. He was 66 years old.
Carlos is survived by a son, Andres Montoya of ABQ, NM. Carlos's ex-wife Gloria Leon Ojeda of Las Cruces and their children: Antonio Leon (who preceded him in death), Antonio's wife Nancy and their children Zaire and Crystal; his daughter Kenya Jimenez, son-in-law Saul Jimenez and their children Gustavo and Joannan Jimenez; daughter Maria Janet Leon, son-in-law Raul Hernandez and their children Antonio, Abigail and Raul Hernandez III; and his son Carlos de Jesus Leon. Carlos is also survived by Linda Bernhardt and their daughter Ella Elisabeth,12, of Las Cruces.
Carlos' surviving siblings are Rigoberto Leon, Julia Leon, Jose Alfredo and Jose Luis Leon, Jesus Manuel Leon, Rosa Leon, Theresa Leon, Efrain Cano, Norma Cano, and Osvaldo 'Tito" Cano.
Carlos became a legal resident of the US in 1987 and has lived here ever since.
Carlos's funeral mass will be Friday, November 9th , 11 am, at Our Lady of Guadalupe Church, 3600 Paroquia St, Tortugas NM.
