1949 - 2018 Obituary Condolences
DANIEL "DANNY" VALLES HOLGUIN, age 68, lifelong resident of Las Cruces passed from this life on Sunday June 10, 2018 at his home. On July 15, 1949, Daniel was born being number six of his twelve siblings to Lilia Valles and Gregorio Holguin. "Daniel" or "Danny", as he was fondly known to family and friends served his country honorably in the United States Army and made numerous friends. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping, playing baseball, softball, wachas and horseshoes. Danny was an awesome singer, singing along to his favorite groups, Chicago and the Eagles. He was employed at New Mexico State University in the maintenance department and was a member of the Roman Catholic Church.
Danny had a great sense of humor and a big heart and very generous with everyone. He loved all his nieces and nephews, but most of all his family, especially when we had family gatherings such as matanzas, making chicharrones, birthday parties and holidays.
You have left this earth brother Danny, but will live in our memories forever especially your big smile, humor and love of pranks. Your spirit lives on and we are comforted because we know that we will be reunited with you in heavenly glory, Adios hermano y vaya con Dios.
Those left to mourn his passing include five brothers, Gilbert Holguin, (Juanita), Angel Holguin (Chepina), Raymond Holguin (Julie), Sammy Holguin, and Ruben Holguin (Dora); three sisters, Mary Lou Aldaz, Lorraine Salas (Pepe) and Annette Padilla (Jaime). Other survivors include numerous nieces and nephews. Danny, was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Valentine Holguin; a sister, Minerva Carabajal; brother-in-law, Mike Aldaz, Jr; niece, Martha Isabel Holguin and a great-niece, Aubrey Holguin.
Visitation for Mr. Holguin will begin at 5 PM Friday, June 15, 2018 at Baca's Funeral Chapel, 300 E. Boutz Road where the Prayer Vigil is scheduled for 6:30 PM. The Funeral Service will follow immediately thereafter. Military Honors will be accord by the United States Army National Guard Honor Guard. At his request cremation will follow and Inurnment of Cremains will be held at a later date in St. Joseph's Cemetery.
