Eladio Garcia

Las Cruces - Las Cruces, NM - Eladio Garcia Sr "Layo"., 70, a humble friend to all, hard worker, and loving father- gained his wings on December 13, 2020. Born in La Huerta, Jalisco in 1950, he moved to the United States at the age of 17 where he began as a field worker, traveling to different states until calling Las Cruces his home. He was a man who worked hard to get ahead to provide for his family and accomplished it by picking up the trade of plumbing. He worked for different companies, eventually becoming a master plumber with 25+ experience. In addition, a gardener for his/clients home property and held a stand at Big Daddy's Flea Market for many years until 2011. He enjoyed entertaining old friends and new, listening to music at full volume, going to Lowe's Home Improvement daily/weekly, helping his children/grandkids with math, attending grandkids soccer games (even teaching and playing against them!), cookouts every Sunday with family, and was extremely proud of being able to build his home and own land. He was blessed to have a large family whom he shared with his wife Sylvia Garcia of more than 40 years. Together, through thick and thin, they had nine children! He is preceded in death by his parents Lazaro and Rosalina Garcia; and brother Esteban. He is survived by his wife, Sylvia Garcia; children, Jereann and husband Ralph Ureno; Melissa Garcia; Emma and Dora Garcia; Rosalina Garcia; Lorena and husband Roberto Briones; Eladio Garcia Jr.; Natalia and husband Jorge Luna; Sylvia M. Garcia; and Daniel Garcia; thirteen grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. Funeral rosary at 10am on January 9th at Santa Rosa de Lima Catholic Church, followed by mass. Burial will follow in the family cemetery. In Lieu of flowers, we are asking for monetary donations to purchase iPads to donate to MMC hospital, so many other families can communicate with loved ones. Email connectingfamiliesNM@gmail.com
