Luis E. Garcia
Las Cruces - With heavy hearts we announce that our beloved husband and father, Luis Evencio Garcia, passed away in Las Cruces on January 7, 2021. Born on June 21, 1956 in Caracas, Venezuela, to parents Evencio Ramón and Olga, Luis lived in New Mexico for over forty years.
A giant among men, Luis is remembered by many for his warm and welcoming presence, his love for dancing and silliness, and his talent and passion for cooking. Luis made many friends before retiring in 2018 from Mesilla Valley Transportation where he worked for over twenty years. He loved people and befriended them as the caring and encouraging confidant, mentor, and friend that he was.
Luis is survived by his wife, Terri Garcia of Las Cruces; his daughter, Amanda Victoria Garcia, and son-in-law, Thad McRae, of Albuquerque; his son, Luis Alexander Garcia of Austin, Texas; his mother, Olga Pérez Lamoglia of Caracas, Venezuela; and six siblings, Isaura Garcia Perez, Lizbeth Garcia Perez, Raul Garcia Perez, Jeanette Garcia Perez, Lilian Garcia Perez, and Evencio Garcia Perez. Luis was preceded in death by his father, Evencio Ramón García Barrios.
Visitation for Luis will begin at 2:30 PM Thursday, January 14, 2021, at Basilica San Albino Catholic Church, 2280 Calle Principal, Mesilla, whereafter a rosary will be prayed at 3 PM followed by a mass at 3:30 PM. Due to Covid-19 restrictions, capacity of attendees is limited, and all are required to wear a mask. Thank you.
