Roger Neil McKissick Obituary
ROGER NEIL MCKISSICK, age 56, of Las Cruces passed from this life on Sunday, April 29, 2018 in Mountain View Regional Medical Center surrounded by his loving family. He was born August 27, 1961 in Cobleskill, NY to Robert and Charlotte McKissick. He was the youngest of seven children. He graduated from high school in New York and shortly thereafter joined the United States Army as a private first class. His first job in the military was a military police officer. After seventeen years in the military her retired as a military intelligence Chief Warrant Officer II in 1996.
While serving in the military, he met the love of his life, in The Republic of Panama. Roger and Linda married in December 1981. Their one and only child, Sean was born in 1983. After he retired from military, Roger and the family moved to Las Cruces, NM so he could start his new job at Loral Vought working as the Facility Security Officer at White Sands Missile Range. Later the company became Lockheed Martin and he was promoted to site deputy/facilities security officer. He worked at Lockheed Martin for 22 years.
One of his proudest moments was the birth of his son, and the life with his best friend, Linda for 36 years.
Roger was a loving and caring husband and father. He was Linda's rock and best friend as well as his son, Sean. He always put his family first. He was the kind of person that would always help anyone who needed help. He was always willing to lend an ear or shoulder. He loved to golf, play video games with his son, as well as figure out all the projects his wife had for him. He was a good friend to everyone and never met a stranger. The legacy he left to his family was to have a kind heart, to stand for family and to care for friends. His memories will always live in his family and spending time with them will be missed.
Those left to mourn his passing include his loving wife, Linda D. McKissick of the family home; a son, Sean O'Neil McKissick of Las Cruces; two brothers, Robert and David McKissick; two sisters, Faye Howard (Ken), and Helen Baker. Other survivors include two sisters-in-law, Laura McKissick and Teena McKissick Cummings. Other survivors include numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Charles and Edward McKissick; a brother-in-law, Roy Baker, and a sister-in-law, Tina McKissick.
Visitation for Roger will held Thursday, May 17, 2018 from 5 PM to 7 PM in Baca's Funeral Chapel, 300 E. Boutz Road where the Funeral Service is scheduled to begin at 7 PM. At Roger's request cremation will take place and inurnment of cremains will be held at a later date.
