SONYA MICHELLE (HOMER) ANGEL, went home on Monday, November 5, 2018. She was born on October 11, 1988 at 7:47 AM in Roswell. Sonya is survived by her son, Azariah Matthew Sterling Angel and life Partner, Blair Angel, both of Las Cruces; her mother, Angelita Chavez, and father, Darroll Homer all also of Las Cruces; her sister, Celina Espinoza-Chavez and brother, Aaron Homer; maternal grandmother, Josephine O. Chavez and maternal grandfather, Timoteo Chavez. Also by numerous, aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. Sonya was preceded in death by her paternal grandparents, Alvin and Jerry Homer of Texas.
Sonya was the center of life in every room that she walked into. Whether it was her uncontrollable laughter while playing board games with her family, or fighting for what she believed in; she never did anything simple or half way. It was all or nothing for her. She had a passion for anything in the arts, music and writing, baking and decorating cakes, helping those who were less fortunate then her and most of all, the intensity of how much she loved her son, Azariah. Sonya was always known as one of the most intelligent people anyone knew, and enjoyed learning and trying out new things, learned to ride a motorcycle, and had a wild spirit that always made her live life to the fullest with whatever she did.
Through all of this, the last couple of years she had struggled with a horrible addiction to heroin; to which she lost her life to in the end. However, she is now free and no longer a slave; but an angel to those who still struggle with the same demon every day. She can finally rest in peace and never suffer from it again. If you or someone you love or know are struggling the same way she did, please get the help you need in any way that you can.
We love and miss you Sonya Michelle (Homer) Angel. Fly away with the angels towards the heavens above and know that you are truly loved and missed.
