Sophia Terrazas

Las Cruces - Sofia Terrazas a lifelong resident of Las Cruces, New Mexico, passed away peacefully and entered into eternal life to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Sofia was born on April 30, 1933 in Las Cruces, NM to Pantaleon and Benina Sanchez. Sofia was a member of Immaculate Heart of Mary Church and was a part of their music ministry. Sofia retired from Leggs and afterward worked for the Las Cruces School District where she finally retired. Sofia participated every year in the December 12th Fiesta de Guadalupe in Tortugas, NM. Sofia was a kind and gentle soul and was always ready and willing to help those in need.

She is preceded in death by her brother Albino Sanchez and Jesus Sanchez, both of Las Cruces and her grandson Brian Terrazas of Albuquerque, NM. She is survived by her sisters; Corrina Bournda of Las Cruces, Maggie Rivas of Tucson, AZ, Dolores Evaro of Las Cruces, Carmen Barreras of Dona Ana, Rosa Lopez of Mesilla Mary Alamaguer of Dona Ana and Jack Sanchez of Las Cruces.

She is also survived by her sons, Alfonso Terrazas Jr and wife, Kathy of Albuquerque, Edmundo Terrazas of West Virginia and daughter, Sylvia Black and husband, David of Carson City, NV. Sofia's grandchildren include Alfonso Terrazas III (AJ) of Phoenix, AZ, Rebekah Terrazas of Las Cruces, Sylena Dean, Sarina Banda and Lacy Alexander all of Carson City along with numerous great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

A Rosary will be held on Friday January 15, 2021 at 2:00pm followed by a mass and then inurment at the Immaculate Heart of Mary Columbarium.
