Cecilia Maese (Amaro)

Cecilia G. Maese (Amaro) died in Las Cruces, New Mexico, on Saturday, Dec. 20, 2014. She was born in Mesilla, New Mexico. She is preceded in death by her parents, Tito O. Maese and Crecenciana G. Maese; her husband; Jose D. Amaro and her son; Luke Amaro.

Cecilia was a 1963 Las Cruces High School graduate who served in the United States Navy. She and Jose returned to the Las Cruces area to be near her family and raise their children, Melissa M. Amaro (Phillip A. Trujillo), Jason J. Amaro (Candace Anderson) and Vanessa Crecenciana Amaro Hinojosa (Armand J. Hinojosa). Her grandchildren include Adrianna Cecile Hinojosa, Zoe I. Amaro, Brock Anderson and Anthony Adrian Trujillo.

Cecilia and Jose had a bookkeeping business for over 25 years, they had customers throughout the Mesilla Valley. Cecilia loved her customers; they brought her joy and a huge social life. She had a special heart for all of her nieces and nephews. Cecilia had a beautiful smile and a contagious laugh that we will all miss. She enjoyed her yard, her animals, antiques and religious art. In recent years, Cecilia was an avid Facebook user, keeping in touch with friends and family members.

A prayer vigil will begin at 10 a.m. Friday, Dec. 26, 2014, at Our Lady of Purification Catholic Church in Dona Ana, with the funeral Mass to follow. Military honors will be provided by the White Sands Missile Range Honor Guard. Inurnment will follow at Fort Bayard National Cemetery at a later date next to her husband.

Honorary pallbearers are Rudy Gutierrez, Baldemar Parra, Edward Ogaz, Michael Cadena, Daniel Maese, Henry Turrey Jr. and Manuel Renteria Jr.
